Both Mitchelton Winery, with its modern tower and restaurant complex, and Tahbilk Winery, Victoria's oldest (Est. 1860), are located on the banks of the Goulburn, and provide a diversion from the serenity of the river.

With lunch served aboard or in the Mitchelton Restaurant, or a Gourmet Picnic Hamper, the combination of fine foods and wines, and a magical river setting make a visit to Nagambie almost essential for good health and well-being.

The Goulburn River, Victoria's longest river, rises in the ranges near Woods Point and eventually flows into the Murray River 565 kilometres later. Near Nagambie only ninety minutes north of Melbourne, is the Goulburn Weir, constructed in 1890 to supply irrigation water to Victoria's arid north. The Weir slows the water for some 50 kilometres upstream, providing a safe and spectacular waterway for, Goulburn River Cruises, to show people from all over Australia and the World the beauty and splendour of our natural bush and river settings, with the chance to spot some unique wildlife, ie. platypus and koalas.
